Heat and Water Meter
A Hot Water Meter - This measures the flow of liquid in the pipework. The meter would have a pulse output connected to the heat integrator or calculator. Thermocouples - Two Thermocouples would be used. One in the flow leg of the pipework measuring the hot water entering the loop. The other thermocouple would be in the return leg of the pipework measuring the temperature of the water after it had been through the loop of pipework being monitored. A Heat Integrator - This device calculates the amount of kWh consumed by the loop of pipework by measuring the flow of liquid in the pipe and measuring the temperature in the flow and return leg of the pipework. The unit then integrates these values to come up with a kWh reading for the consumed energy in heating the loop. Heat Integrators usually have an electronic display to show the kWh reading. This may be battery, low voltage or mains driven. In addition the heat meter calculator may also have a pulse output which could be connected to a building management system or energy management system. It would also be possible to get heat meters with either MODBUS or M-BUS communications to enable intelligent connections to remote systems. Cold Water Meter - Cold Water Flow Meters are available from our on line shop in various types including single jet, multi jet, ultrasonic, screwed connection and Woltmann Flange fitted. Our cold water meters will operate on pipe work with a liquid temperature of up to 30°C. Most of the meters we supply are of the dry dial type with anti mist displays so that the reading can always be read. Many of our Cold Water Meters are WRAS approved and can also be used on drinking water supplies. We also supply Cold Water Meters that can be read remotely by connecting up the pulse output contact to an energy management system or building management system.
